Torchlight Procession 2024
Clayton Sports Ground to Lincoln Cathedral
Please note: advance booking is mandatory. Book your place here.
The Torchlight Procession, kindly supported by HomeLet, is one of the most poignant events in the St Barnabas calendar.
Now in it’s 24th year, this unique celebration provides the opportunity for families and friends to join together in remembering loved ones, in a beautiful and powerful tribute. The transfer of light throughout the event is symbolic; the flaming torch is carried by runners from our Lincoln Inpatient Unit on Nettleham Road to Claytons where it is used to light the procession torches.
Once all torches are lit, the procession will begin from Clayton Sports Ground at 7.30pm led by the RAF Waddington Pipe Band. We will journey past the Inpatient Unit, pausing for a moment of reflection, before moving onto Lincoln Cathedral. The event concludes with a service where the Tree of Life will be illuminated.
Following the procession, we invite members of the public to write personal Messages of Love which can be placed on the Tree of Life. Tags will be available on the night from Clayton Sports Ground, or after the service at the Cathedral for a small donation.
To help cover event costs, we will be charging for tickets this year. Torches / lanterns must be pre-booked during ticket purchase.
