FAQs
Am I eligible for Gift Aid?
If you are a UK Tax payer, then yes. However you don’t have to be employed to still be eligible! Do you pay tax on any of the following? Personal or occupational pensions, Stocks and shares, Rental income, Bank and building society savings accounts and Overseas and UK investment dividends. If yes, then you are eligible, and it doesn’t cost you a penny!
To qualify for Gift Aid you should be a UK tax payer who has paid enough income tax to cover the amount we reclaim.
I am a higher tax payer. Does this change anything?
If you are a higher-rate tax payer you can also claim additional tax relief. For higher rate tax payers (paying tax at 40%) this works out as 25p for every £1 you donate and for the highest rate tax payers (paying tax at 45%) this works out as 31p for every £1 you donate.
Do I have to give regularly?
No. We are able to claim back tax on any donation that has been made to us whether it be a one-off donation or regular donations. A single Gift Aid declaration will cover all future donations that you make to St Barnabas Hospice Shops.
What if I move house or I become unemployed?
Once you have become a Gift Aid donor, please let us know if you stop paying tax or if you change your name/address so that we can update our records. You can do so by going to our Gift Aid contact details update form here.
