Text Santa

19th December 2013

Residents of Lincolnshire are being encouraged to donate to ITV’s annual charity appeal Text Santa – which broadcasts its fundraising show next week at 8pm on Friday 20th December – to support local hospice St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice and national hospice charity Help the Hospices.

Help the Hospices is one of six charities to benefit from this year’s Text Santa appeal. As a member of the national hospice charity, Help the Hospices, St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice is now benefiting from increased public awareness about hospice care generated by the appeal.

Text Santa features prominently across ITV’s flagship programmes such as Daybreak, This Morning and The Jeremy Kyle Show. The appeal is supported by a host of celebrities to help boost fundraising and increase awareness of the work of the charities involved.

As part of the fundraising drive, in the lead-up to the main broadcast ITV are launching a “Hats on Display for Hattitude Day” – a special day of fundraising on Friday 20th December. The staff and volunteers at St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice are lending their support by wearing a hat, and anyone else who would like to join in the fun and donate £1 to Text Santa is encouraged to do so.

Becky Otter Events Fundraiser of St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice “We are delighted to be nominated once again for the Text Santa appeal. The appeal boosts awareness of hospice care throughout the uk, as a local hospice we have to raise over £3.4m a year so we can continue to provide hospice care and support to families from across Lincolnshire.”

David Praill, Chief Executive at Help the Hospices, said: “We have received some fantastic coverage from the Text Santa appeal across a wide range of ITV’s flagship programmes which has really shone a spotlight on hospice care. I hope everyone tunes in to watch the main appeal show on 20th December, donating whatever they can, and show their support by wearing a hat for ‘Hattitude’. The donations we receive make a massive difference to the work of our member hospices and will enable them to continue to provide invaluable care for terminally ill patients and their families.”

If you would like to donate to Text Santa, you can text the word SANTA to 70070 (which will automatically donate £5), you can visit www.itv.com/textsanta and follow the links, or you can phone 0300 200 8000. 100% of your donation will go to the Text Santa charities.
