Swish and shop at ‘Top to Toe’ vintage evening

St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice host vintage inspired event at the Lincolnshire Showground

On Thursday, 24th April from 7pm – 10pm, at the Lincolnshire Showground, St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice will be hosting their second annual ‘Top to Toe’ vintage event – an evening filled with tea, cake and fashion.

Guests will be greeted with a complementary glass of fizz to take with them as they browse stalls packed full of vintage clothing, shoes and accessories. Fashionistas can rest their weary Manolo’s as they sip tea from mismatched china, indulge in homemade cake and listen to live music from wartime tribute singer Heather Marie.

The shopping showcase will also feature a swap shop where guests will have the chance to ‘swish’. Swishing allows guests to revive a tired wardrobe by swapping their unloved, but good quality items of clothing, for someone else’s unwanted pieces.

How do you swish?

1. Drop your clothes off in advance to St Barnabas Hospice Fundraising department at Cardinal Close in Lincoln or bring them along on the night.

2. Your clothes will be scored on a 1 – 5 point system. The more high-end the clothes the more points you will receive! Your points will then be converted into swishing tokens.

3. You can then use your tokens to buy items on the night.

Swishing rules state that all items handed in for swishing must be in a good condition and worthy of swapping. All goods will be vetted for quality control to ensure a high standard of swishing is enjoyed by all. Guests are encouraged to read the swishing guidelines here

“Swishing is a fantastic opportunity for guests to shop guilt free by getting themselves a new spring wardrobe without spending a penny!” said Becky otter, Events Fundraiser for St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice. “The eclectic mix of fashion, from high street to high-end, will be a haven for the fashion conscious, who can rummage through our rails of clothing, looking for that rare find or style steal.”

For the full ‘Top to Toe’ vintage look there will also be a pop-up beauty shop from Lincoln City Centre hairdressers ‘The Strand’. They are volunteering their time to offer vintage inspired hair styling for a minimum donation of just £4.

Becky concludes: “Top to Toe vintage is the perfect occasion for a girl’s night out – although men are welcome too! Guests can style themselves in all things vintage, have fun with their friends and shop or swap all evening.

“We have secured ourselves a larger venue this year after last year was such a huge success. We had in excess of 20 stalls and over 200 guests with swishing being the highlight for many on the night.

“The Top to Toe event aims to transport guests to a forgotten era where pillar box red lips and hair in pin curls were the very definition of glamour.”

Tickets are priced at the early bird rate of £8 and can be purchased online at www.stbarnabashospice.co.uk. Tickets can also be bought on the door on the night of the event and will be charged at the standard rate of £10.
