St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice celebrates first anniversary of its shop at The Forum in Lincoln
St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice are inviting the local community to celebrate the first anniversary of its charity shop in North Hykeham, Lincoln which has turned over in excess of £167,000 in its first year of trading.
The shop, which is located at The Forum in North Hykeham, will host a birthday celebration on Wednesday 8th June to mark the anniversary. The hospice Chief Executive, Chris Wheway, will be at the shop at 10am to get the celebrations underway.
Shoppers can indulge in a slice of cake and try their luck on the tombola and raffle.
Caroline Peach, Retail Manager for St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice, said:
“It has been a real pleasure to work alongside the Lincoln community and we would like to take this opportunity to show our gratitude for their generosity and support of our shop and hospice services.
“The money raised helps to fund the care and support that is provided across the county and right here in Lincoln. The demand for our hospice services continues to rise throughout the county and we are proud to be able to take the quality of our care to new heights.”
The Forum shop opened after St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice merged their flagship shop and the Storyteller bookshop last year. They have had a shop at the shopping precinct for 23 years.
The shop spans two floors with clothing, toys, household items and new goods on the ground floor. Upstairs there is a dedicated book shop stocking a wide range of books from an assortment of genres. In the 12 months since the shop opened more than 32,000 books have been sold to their loyal supporter base.
St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice currently has 27 shops across the county and collectively they raise in excess of £500,000. Like many of the shops, The Forum shop is managed by a team of paid staff and volunteers.
Caroline said: “Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers have worked hard to ensure our shop is a success. Their commitment ensures that we are able to continue providing our specialist care across the county.”
The Forum shop in North Hykeham is open from 9am – 4.30pm, Monday to Saturday.
