A beautiful way to remember a loved one

The ‘Feathers from Above’ appeal is an installation of 1,000, handmade feathers that offer supporters a unique way to remember a loved one. The spectacular display will be held at Aubourn Hall and Gardens and will be available for members of the public to visit during day displays or smaller evening displays.

Remembering a loved one is very personal, which is why we have included the ability to not only personalise your ironwork with the name of your loved one(s) but also opt to make an online dedication visible to the public.

Each iron feather measures 32cm (l) x 12cm (w).

Your loved one’s feather will help St Barnabas care for patients and their families, at a time when they need it most.

Visit our display or join us for an evening of reflection

By purchasing one or multiple handmade feathers and making a dedication you will receive a code granting you one FREE place at a daytime display of your choosing (children under 16 years old can also attend our daytime displays for FREE).

The displays will run from 2nd May 2024 to 17th May 2024 and will be open for members of the public to visit and reflect during this period.

If you have dedicated a feather before the 2nd May, you will be invited to collect your feather after the display has come to an end. We will still accept feather orders after 2nd May, but due to them being handmade, they won’t be finished in time to be included in the display.

Rebekah’s Story

“A feather from above, floats gently from the sky, to remind you that your loved ones, are always close by.”

My name is Rebekah, and I would like to share with you some very special news about how St Barnabas is helping people like us remember loved ones this spring. When my sister Natalie died, my family and I wanted to find ways to support the Hospice. Now I can honour her memory with a personalised ironwork feather, and you can do the same for your loved ones.

My sister, Natalie, was a funny, kind, and beautiful mother, sister, and auntie. She loved everybody she met and was so generous.

How to participate

Kevin Baumber

We are honoured that Kevin Baumber, a very talented local artist from Lincoln, has supported St Barnabas Hospice by creating the beautiful artwork to accompany the ‘Feather from Above’ project. Kevin explains that feathers will interact with the breeze and deliver a thought provoking display for all to enjoy.

Aubourn Hall

Thank you to Aubourn Hall, for providing their beautiful garden for our display. We couldn’t think of a more magnificent location to showcase the feathers, a fitting tribute to all those being remembered.
