Waterside Shopping Centre
The Waterside has worked with St Barnabas since 2017 when the hospice won a public vote to become the centre's charity of the year.
In the last two years, the centre has raised over £5,000 for St Barnabas, with the two organisations collaborating on a wide range of events, including last year’s highly successful fashion show and Christmas Wrapping Station. The charity has also had several stalls and promotional events in the centre, such as the visit of its ‘Before I Die’ wall during Dying Matters Awareness Week, taking advantage of free space in the centre.
2019’s fundraising activity started with the opening of an 8,000 square foot pop-up shop, and the Waterside sponsoring the charity’s Forget Me Not appeal.
“Every week, the Waterside Centre welcomes over 50,000 shoppers from Lincoln and the wider county, many of whom will have been supported by St Barnabas or know someone who has received their help at some point. I know many of the people who work at our retailers, have come into contact with the charity at really difficult times and they’ve received amazing support. We’re keen to play our part in the local community and try to give something back. By having St Barnabas as our charity partner, we’re doing just that.”
