St Barnabas pop-up shop ‘huge success’ raising valuable funds for the charity

28th February 2019

St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice pop-up shop opened on Monday, February 18, with a variety of exciting sections for people to browse.

The store, an 8,000 square foot unit is next to New Look in the Waterside Shopping Centre is selling a range of vintage and second hand goodies including crockery, clothing and wedding dresses, as well as film merchandise.

Shoppers to the store have been really positive, especially about the interactive games area to keep children entertained.

Retail Manager for St Barnabas, is overwhelmed by the success of the pop up shop.

“We’d like to give a huge thank you to Waterside Shopping Centre for providing us with this great opportunity to use this wonderful unit. This means that more of the money we raise goes directly to patient care.

“We hope that having our pop-up shop in a place so central in Lincoln will spread awareness of St Barnabas and what we do to those who may not be aware.”

Dean Cross, general manager at the Waterside Shopping Centre, added:

“As our charity partner we work closely with St Barnabas, and the pop-up shop is just one of a series of fundraising activities we’ve supported. The St Barnabas team have created a great looking and well merchandised pop up unit, which we hope lots of people will visit. We hope the scheme encourages other charities around the country to stage similar fundraising activity as it certainly seems to have captured people’s attention!”

St Barnabas supports more than 10,500 local people every year and delivers care to patients living with a life limiting or terminal illness and their families. The ambition, for every patient they meet, is to enable them to live life to the fullest possible extent for however many days, weeks or months they have left.

This year it will cost over £11.5m to deliver our services. The NHS does give some money, but the charity still needs to raise at least £5.5 million. Funds from fundraising, donations and retail sales all go towards the yearly costs to run the free service. Visit www.stbarnabashospice.co.uk to find out more.

The pop up shop is open Monday to Saturday 9am to 5.30pm and Sunday 10am to 4.30pm.
