We cared for Sophie’s mum, Dawn, in our Hospice after Dawn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. This #MothersDay, Sophie has chosen to share with our supporters what an incredible lady her mum was.
Sophie said, “She was a very creative person and she always liked to help other people. She was very funny, very caring and she liked to do sewing. She also quite liked baking and cooking things – we would always do that together a lot.
“My favourite memory is when we were in Florida. We went to a meal with Cinderella and all the princesses at the castle.
“We have a tree for Mum in our garden with a plaque and a St Barnabas forget ne not. We go in our garden quite a lot and will be putting our St Barnabas dragonfly there too.
“My dog, Deefor, has helped me since Mum died. He liked to go on the sofa a lot, so when he went on the sofa, I would go on the sofa and put the blanket over him. We would sit there for ages and ages and ages and he would have his head on me, and I would have my head on him.”
Thank you very much to Sophie for sharing such precious memories.
