A beautiful way to remember a loved one

The ‘Feathers from Above’ appeal is an installation of 1,000, handmade feathers, offering supporters a unique way to remember a loved one.

The spectacular display was held at Aubourn Hall and Gardens, with members of the public visiting during daytime displays and smaller evening displays. We were honoured that our Patron, Warwick Davis and his family attended, to remember wife and mother, Sammy.

We’d like to thank everyone who visited our Feathers From Above installation, purchased a feather and made a dedication.

Although the display has come to an end, the Feathers are now available to purchase on our online shop. Each iron feather measures 32cm (l) x 12cm (w) and is handcrafted in Lincolnshire by local Steel Fabricator, Kevin Baumber. Every purchase helps St Barnabas to care for patients and their families, at a time when they need it most.

Rebekah’s Story

“A feather from above, floats gently from the sky, to remind you that your loved ones, are always close by.”

My name is Rebekah, and I would like to share with you some very special news about how St Barnabas is helping people like us remember loved ones this spring. When my sister Natalie died, my family and I wanted to find ways to support the Hospice. Now I can honour her memory with a personalised ironwork feather, and you can do the same for your loved ones.

My sister, Natalie, was a funny, kind, and beautiful mother, sister, and auntie. She loved everybody she met and was so generous.

Kevin Baumber

We are honoured that Kevin Baumber, a very talented local artist from Lincoln, has supported St Barnabas Hospice by creating the beautiful artwork to accompany the ‘Feather from Above’ project. Kevin explains that feathers will interact with the breeze and deliver a thought provoking display for all to enjoy.

Aubourn Hall

Thank you to Aubourn Hall, for providing their beautiful garden for our display. We couldn’t think of a more magnificent location to showcase the feathers, a fitting tribute to all those being remembered.
