Details
Starting early morning from the Old Dungeon Ghyll, in the Langdale Valley, you’ll head north-west across the moorland towards your first peak of the day: Rossett Pike. These are the southern fells of Wainwright country, known for offering some of the finest hill-walking in England.
After a quick pit stop, the next challenge awaits: Allen Crags. From its stony summit, you’ll be treated to views stretching across the Scafells and Derwent Water. Only three peaks remain, but they are the toughest of the day, so you’ll need to stay focused and determined.
Then, it’s on to the highlight of the day—the craggy peak of Scafell Pike itself. However, before you reach the top, you’ll have to tackle a daunting boulder field, followed by a steep ascent to the summit of England’s highest mountain at 978m. Surrounded by crags, the sweeping views take in Great End and Helvellyn to the north, Crinkle Crags and Windermere to the south-east, and, on a clear day, even the Isle of Man and Scottish hills to the west.
Your return route will take you over the iconic peaks of Ill Crag and Great End, before descending back into the Langdale valley in time to celebrate your achievement.
Fundraising and self-funded options available.
Please note: The exact order in which you’ll tackle each of the peaks will be decided by your mountain leaders on the day, taking into account the weather and the group’s walking pace.
