Easter Decorative Knitted Novelties

As Easter approaches, you’ll soon find boxes of Knitted Novelties within local businesses in Lincolnshire, for a suggested donation of £3 each.

These unique, decorative novelties enclose everyone’s favourite treat, a crème egg, and all proceeds go towards supporting St Barnabas.

We’re on the hunt for ‘egg-cellent’ new and returning knitters to create decorative knitted bunnies, rabbits, and other unique springtime characters – and we’re also inviting local businesses to host a box in their shop, café, or office.

Please note: these are decorative items only, not to be sold as toys.

Could you create a Knitted Novelty?

We’re asking our amazing supporters to knit or crochet some unique, decorative novelties to enclose a crème egg during the spring months!

If you would like to donate your hand-knitted novelties, please don’t worry about filling them with crème eggs, we’ll happily take them without. Please send us your knitted novelties by mid-March.

If you are unable to knit but would still like to support the hospice’s spring initiative, we would really appreciate donations of wool and crème eggs!

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide wool or craft materials. This helps keep the appeal cost-effective, ensuring that the money raised goes directly towards providing hospice care and support across Lincolnshire.

The monies raised from each Easter novelty, including a Crème Egg and a hand knitted topper, will go towards providing vital care and support for our patients and their families.

Host our Knitted Novelties

Alongside knitters, we are appealing to places across Lincolnshire to host a box of Knitted Novelties. Anywhere from local shops, pubs, cafes, schools and individual businesses can request a box, with proceeds going towards our hospice.

We also need egg donations! If you’d like to contribute, we’d love donations of Crème Eggs or any similar-sized chocolate eggs to help fill our knitted novelties.

I think it’s amazing how many people are cared for by St Barnabas – the care is the very best you can have.

It was Glenis, another St Barnabas volunteer, who first started the campaign in Sleaford around 10 – 12 years ago. She once spotted three knitted rabbits in a magazine, and thought, ‘I can do better’, and that’s how it all began! Her speciality now is knitting rabbits with waistcoats. They can be very therapeutic to create, and it is so good for wellbeing. It’s a great occasion for sitting around and having biscuits and a cup of tea. I wanted to support and volunteer with a worthwhile local charity. I think it’s amazing how many people are cared for by St Barnabas – the care is the very best you can have. People often say that they don’t know how to help, but by hosting fundraising initiatives or supporting fundraising campaigns like this, you are helping.
