Remembering your loved one

Donations made in memory of someone are incredibly special – not only are they a powerful way to remember a loved one, but they also help to support the vital care St Barnabas provides to patients and their families.

There are a variety of ways you can remember a loved one, including creating an online tribute page, supporting our ironwork appeals, or fundraising in memory. We also have both digital and physical methods available to make holding a collection at a loved one’s funeral simple.

Reflection spaces are available in our Inpatient Unit gardens and outdoors in our Wellbeing Centres, which families are welcome to use to reflect and remember loved ones. Please note, we do discourage physical donations such as plaques, benches and sculptures due to the indirect costs, sustainability of the items and potential risk of damage, which could be upsetting to families.

Every donation you make in a loved one’s name will go on to care for someone else.

Light Up A Life

Our poignant Christmas Light up a Life appeal offers you a chance to dedicate a symbolic light in memory of your loved one. You can remember anyone, not just those cared for by St Barnabas.

As a thank you, you will receive a memory tag for the Tree of Life and a decoration to display at home. Every donation for a light pays for people in Lincolnshire to receive specialist end-of-life care.

Ironwork Displays

Remember a loved one with bespoke, handmade ironwork that can be displayed at home or outside in the garden. Our newest ironwork is a Feather from Above.

Legacy Gifts in Wills

Leaving a legacy in memory of a loved one is always a personal choice. At St Barnabas Hospice, we would not be able to provide our vital care without individuals who leave a gift in their Will.

Each gift, no matter the size, is one of the most powerful ways to protect local hospice care so it’s here for everyone who needs it, now and in the future.

They respected him as a person. They made him comfortable, and I knew that I could go home, and he would be in safe hands.

I cared for Malc at home, but as soon as he was diagnosed, St Barnabas was here. I could always ring them for a chat when I needed support, because sometimes you can’t show how you feel to the person who is so ill, and so St Barnabas was there for me as well. I don’t know how I would have done it without them. All the team at St Barnabas, and I mean all the team, just go above and beyond with their excellent care. Malc was given dignity. They respected him as a person. They made him comfortable, and I knew that I could go home, and he would be in safe hands. Taking part in the Torchlight Procession is a very special kind of emotional experience – being there with so many people remembering their loved ones. In my garden, I also have a feather from a previous ironwork appeal, dedicated to Malc.

Funerals and collections in memory

Much Loved tribute pages

This is your own special memorial website in tribute to your loved one, where you can share memories, thoughts, and stories with family and friends as well as light candles, add music, photos and videos.

Create an online donation page

Funeral tribute page

Set up an online page to collect donations digitally for a loved one’s funeral. It only takes a few minutes, and you can personalise your loved one’s page with shared photos and memories. It will also include information about a physical service, such as a funeral or a ‘celebration of life’ event.

Funeral Collections

Many families find comfort in inviting donations in lieu of flowers, choosing to support a charity close to their heart. If you would like to support St Barnabas Hospice and remember your loved one in this way, we can provide a funeral collection box.

To arrange the booking and collection of one of these boxes, please contact the Supporter Engagement team on 01522 559 508 or email supportercare@stbarnabashospice.co.uk.

Please ensure you give us plenty of notice so we can have your box ready for collection in time for your funeral or memorial service.

We can also provide collection envelopes for a funeral or memorial service. These envelopes make collecting money on the day easier and can be personalised with the name of the person you are remembering.
