Course Overview

This interactive, activity-based course equips professionals working with young adults who have been diagnosed with, or affected by, palliative or end of life issues with the knowledge, skills and confidence to provide compassionate support. Through simulation and practical activities, participants develop their communication skills and confidence in managing complex and emotionally challenging conversations.

This Course is For

Anyone caring for young adults receiving palliative or end of life care, or supporting young adults and children affected by these issues.

  • Exploring the personal challenges associated with caring for young adults with palliative care needs.
  • Understanding transition into, and navigation through, palliative care services.
  • Recognising the physical, psychological, social and financial challenges experienced by young adults and their families.
  • Identifying services and resources available to support young adults.
  • Applying the Four Pillars of Wellbeing and the Five Priorities of Care.
  • Communicating effectively with bereaved children within clinical settings.
  • Supporting personal mental health and wellbeing.
  • Developing advanced communication skills to facilitate difficult conversations.
