This interactive course increases the knowledge, skills and confidence of Advanced Clinical Practitioners supporting patients receiving palliative and end of life care. Emphasis is placed on holistic, person-centred care while exploring deterioration, symptom management and palliative emergencies.

  • Critical evaluation of the complexities of palliative and end of life care, including symptom management, communication, and care coordination.
  • Application of clinical reasoning and evidence-based tools (e.g., SPICT, ReSPECT, Clinical Frailty Scale) to identify deterioration and end-of-life trajectories.
  • Leadership and interprofessional collaboration in delivering personalised, holistic care.
  • Ethical, legal and professional responsibilities, including autonomy, consent, and advance care planning.
  • Integrating the Four Pillars of Wellbeing (physical, psychological/spiritual, financial, and social) into assessment and care planning.
  • Professional curiosity and critical reflection using case-based discussion to improve practice.
