About this Young at HeART sculpture
Each child at Westgate Academy was offered the chance to submit their design for this heart, with the theme of ‘Love Lincolnshire’.
All submitted designs were considered, with reoccurring themes such as the Lincoln Cathedral, Lincoln Castle, Red Arrows and Lincolnshire sausages. The Lincolnshire Puppy is a story that Year 3 students learn, and many students incorporated this into their design.
Other elements add detail, including wording ideas and phrases in speech bubbles to share the love the children have for their county. The heart is made of a chicken wire with Modroc plaster, manipulating parts to create 3D edges for parts such as the sausages, Red Arrows, and speech bubbles.
