Lucky Heart

Kevin Baumber, one of the Artists for the St Barnabas HeART Trail. Man with beard posing with sculpture depicting industrial cogs made of metal. by Kevin Baumber

About the HeART

This design is Inspired by the agricultural and equestrian roots of Lincolnshire and has been made of reclaimed horseshoes. To many, the horseshoe is a symbol of good luck and protection hence the name ‘Lucky Heart’.

The glazed varnish creates an iridescent and colourful effect depending on the light, flipping from green to a vibrant purple-pink.

Lincoln-based company Fizzco are sponsoring this HeART in honour of Lesley Hodges, the mother of an employee who recently received care from St Barnabas before her passing. She loved animals and the outdoors and would have loved this sculpture.

About the Artist - Kevin Baumber

Kevin is a Royal College of Art trained artist based in Lincolnshire. He specialises in making large scale steel sculptures of animals under the name of Welderbeasts.

The creatures are first modelled in 3D on a computer, cut from sheet steel and welded together to reconstruct the original computer model in the physical world.
