About this Young at HeART sculpture
Year 1 students of the Cherry Willingham Primary Academy took inspiration from the work of Vincent van Gogh as part of their ‘night-time’ topic.
The materials used are magazine collage, wool, monoprinting, relief printing, felt making, Sgraffito and even painting using toy cars.
The design combines the urban with the rural on both sides of the sculpture. One side shows the Lincoln Cathedral, Red Arrows and farm vehicles, whilst the other side shows our gorgeous beaches and seals with the Lancaster Bomber overhead.
All students in the Year 1 class have contributed to the heart through collaging a part of it. They have also each made a piece of handmade felt which is attached to the 3D element of the heart which looks really striking.
