What could you do with a nifty fifty?
I’m Caroline Swindin, Corporate & Community Lead at St Barnabas Hospice, and I’m here to tell you about how you can join this year’s Accumulator Challenge to make a real difference to hospice care in Lincolnshire. How it works
Each team will receive a £50 credit from St Barnabas Hospice and is tasked with using innovative methods to raise as much money as possible over a period of three months (Sunday 1st September to Saturday 30th November). The £50 will be paid into your nominated bank account in time for Sunday 1st September, when the challenge will begin. The following trophies will be awarded: Innovation Award, Best Event Award, Best Individual Fundraiser Award, Best Fundraising Team Award and Digital Marketing Award. For fairness, the final figure raised will generate an average based on the number of people in each team. The Accumulator Challenge is a unique event, and we encourage you to use your own innovative fundraising ideas. Funds raised by taking part in St Barnabas led events during this time will also be included in your team total. Please note, fundraising events already scheduled prior to sign-up cannot be included.
Benefits of taking part
You will be raising much needed money for St Barnabas Hospice. This money will help us continue to provide free care and support across Lincolnshire, to people living with a life-limiting or terminal illness, and their families and carers. There will be improved networking between colleagues, departments and other local businesses, as well as a chance to boost staff morale, encourage team work and help new staff get settled into the business. PR and social media opportunities from the Challenge will increase your company’s profile and show you care about the local community.

We would like to invite participating teams to a celebration evening at the end of the three months following the completion of the Challenge – further details to follow. This will provide you with an opportunity to network and share successes.
Once you have entered, Caroline will give you an ideas and tips pack to help you plan for the Accumulator Challenge. We can also supply an A3 totaliser poster for you to put up in your place of work to keep staff updated on your fundraising efforts.
Stay in touch with Caroline throughout the Challenge to let her know about any activities you have planned. Our Marketing team may come along to film it!
Once the Challenge has finished, we would like to invite participating teams to our celebration evening. This will provide you with an opportunity to network and share successes, as well as seeing who has won one of our Accumulator Challenge awards. The awards up from grabs are: Innovation Award, Best Event Award, Top Individual Fundraiser Award, Top Team Fundraiser Award and Digital Marketing Award.
