This introductory workshop is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and CBT skills, including their origin and application in a therapeutic setting. The programme will explore the link between thoughts feelings behaviour and physical symptoms and introduce key cognitive behavioural approaches. The workshop will examine different approaches including questioning techniques to understand potential unhelpful behaviours.

Candidates should note that this is an introductory session and does not equip delegates to work with patients/clients without further training.

Learning Outcomes
• Be aware of the origins of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
• Understand the principles of CBT based approaches
• Be able to identify the link between thoughts, feelings behaviours and physical symptoms
• Be aware of physical CBT based approaches including questioning techniques.
